Campaign for Gary McKinnon continues in Parliament
15th March 2011
Gary Mckinnon's mother Janis Sharp met with Gary's local MP David Burrowes to discuss the next steps in the long campaign for justice. Gary Mckinnon is awaiting the outcome of the Home Secretary's review of his extradition to the US.
Presently the concern is to ensure that the appropriate expert with expertise of Aspergers assesses Gary. David Burrowes MP has made representations to the Home Secretary seeking the necessary assurances. A debate about Gary Mckinnon's case has also been secured in the House of Lords on March 23rd.
David Burrowes said " I was pleased to met up again with Gary's mother to discuss his case. We are doing all we can to ensure Gary is assessed by a psychiatrist with expertise in autism and particularly Aspergers. I am writing again to the Home Secretary to ask for an appropriate expert assessment to ensure she has the full facts at her disposal when making the decision about his medical condition and the impact of extradition."
