MP plays football in support of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust
17th May 2010
David Burrowes took a break from following the coalition talks last week to join other MPs in a charity football match at Stamford Bridge. The Parliamentary team took on a celebrity Cystic Fibrosis Trust team which included Ben Shephard, Alastair Campbell and Kyran Bracken.
Speaking afterwards, David said:
“While talks were ongoing to seal the coalition deal, the opportunity to play football at Stamford Bridge and to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust could not be missed.
"I really enjoyed playing in defence, but only realised after the game why I kept being out-jumped by the celebrity team's striker. He was Dalton Grant, the world champion high jumper.
"The experience of a goal saving tackle and more importantly the brave testimony from one of the opposing team who has cystic fibrosis will live long in the memory."
The Cystic Fibrosis Trust team won the match 3-1.
