Response to PCT announcement on Chase Farm Minor Injury Unit

The announcement from Enfield PCT confirms that Chase Farm Hospital will have an Accident but no Emergancy department. Minor injury accidents will receive 24hr attention but major emergencies will not. How anyone can spin this as good news beggars belief. The harsh reality of Labour's decision in 2008 to downgrade emergency services is that the blue light ambulance will not stop at Chase Farm Hospital. If you have a serious injury or emergency and you go to Chase Farm an ambulance will take you to Barnet, North Mid or a central London hospital.
We have seen from Labour's latest plans for London healthcare that these cuts to local A&E services are not an accident but they are an emergency. We desperately need an election and a Conservative Government to put a halt to these cuts and have a review based on the clinical needs of Enfield.
