David Burrowes opens youth event at Broomfield House
27th April 2010
David Burrowes opened the “Envision” youth event at Broomfield School on Saturday. The event was organised by a group of Broomfield School students who want to provide a positive view of young people and encourage young people away from knife and gun crime.
David said: “It was a great pleasure to attend this important event. As a school Governor at Broomfield it was good to see students from Broomfield taking the lead on this issue. We need to have tough laws that punish those who carry weapons on our streets. Our Borough knows sadly too well the damage caused by knives. Conservatives are committed to ensure that anyone found carrying a knife should expect prison. However if we are to truly tackle knife and gun crime we need to support community led initiatives like Envision who want to provide positive choices for young people. On Saturday the students of Broomfield sent out a strong message that young people are making a great positive contribution in our community and deserve our support.”
